Coinbase Commerce Adds Support For DOGE Payment
The cryptocurrency retail payment platform Coinbase Commerce, under the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, announced yesterday (22) it has added support for Dogecoin (DOGE) payment functions, allowing consumers to easily use Dogecoin for online shopping and payments.
Currently, Coinbase Commerce supports Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Dai, and USDC.
The Coinbase Commerce platform can allow retailers to accept cryptocurrency easily, as well as be integrated directly into their shopping cart, similar to PayPal’s online payment process. The store only needs to provide an email address and a phone number to register for Coinbase Commerce and accept cryptocurrency payments. Coinbase doesn’t have to escrow the cryptocurrency, and the store has full control of it.
Merchants who partner with Coinbase Commerce can also choose to export cryptocurrency straight into USD, EUR, GBP, or USDC.
Recently, Coinbase Commerce became a payment partner of international auction house Sotheby’s. Sotheby’s auctioned a 101.38-carat, rare pear-shaped diamond for USD 12.3 million on July 9 this year. The transaction was conducted using Coinbase Commerce.
Since Coinbase Commerce went online two years ago, more than 8,000 retailers have signed up for the service and over $200 million has been transacted.
Coinbase Commerce’s Head of Product John Zettler noted that Bitcoin remains the most popular payment method among the cryptocurrencies supported on the platform, adding: “Merchant customers tell us that it’s the one they’re most familiar with and most trust.”. “
Due to strong customer demand, Coinbase listed Dogecoin (DOGE) not long ago. Users can purchase, sell, exchange, send, receive, and store Dogecoin on the Coinbase website, Coinbase Pro, and the Coinbase Android and iOS apps.
