Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and female stock god Cathie Wood discussed Bitcoin at the “The BTC Word” forum on July 22.
Musk, whose criticisms of Bitcoin for not being environmentally friendly damaged the value of the currency and brought criticism from the currency circle, said at the meeting that he still had support for Bitcoin, claiming, “SpaceX, Tesla, and I all hold Bitcoin. currency.”.
He said,
It is possible that I will drive up the currency’s price, but I won’t sell it. I certainly do not believe in things like “pulling up shipments”. “I hope Bitcoin succeeds.”
Tesla reported in the past that it purchased $1.5 billion in Bitcoin as an asset allocation in January, but later disclosed in its first quarter financial report that it had sold $272 million worth of Bitcoin. Additionally, Tesla started accepting Bitcoin payments for cars in March of this year, but they suspended it after just two months on the grounds of “environmental considerations.”
On this topic, Musk said in the live broadcast that Tesla would accept Bitcoin again if it is determined that Bitcoin mining uses more renewable energy than 50%, and although the company is currently suspending accepting Bitcoin, Musk insists that the company hasn’t sold any Bitcoin holdings. He said,
“We do not sell any bitcoins, nor do I personally and SpaceX.”
Musk has also pointed out that along with Bitcoin, Tesla, and SpaceX stocks, he also owns Ether and Dogecoin. Although he did not mention a specific investment amount, Musk said that Bitcoin serves as the majority of the cryptocurrency assets. “If the price of Bitcoin drops, I will lose money,” he said bluntly.
